Scotland's professional answer to your health and social care training needs
Enhancing your care, through knowledge
We are a husband and wife family firm with 60yrs NHS experience in emergency and urgent care between us. Douglas as a registered paramedic and Karen as a registered nurse and we believe that our lived experiences greatly enhance our training delivery through a blend of humour and knowledge.
Douglas joined the Ambulance Service in 1992 he completed his BSc (Hons) in Health and Social Care, an MSc in Advanced Health Care, a Post Graduate Certificate in Urgent Care Practice and a Certificate in Education and Training. As well as working on front-line ambulances throughout his career he has also worked on air ambulance helicopters and fixed wing transfer and retrieval aircraft. He worked a primary care roll managing his local prison healthcare team before finally taking a training role with the Department of Health and Social Care.
Douglas continues to work part time as a practitioner with his local GP out of hours service and is an instructor with his local hospital's resuscitation training team.
Karen originally qualified as a State Enrolled Nurse in 1988 before going back to university to gain her Registered Nurse degree. She worked mostly in Critical Care rolls both in Intensive Care and Coronary Care. Karen has interests in training and professional development and patient care, quality and safety.
